採取した血液の赤血球が試験管の底部に沈殿する際の、1時間当たりの移動距離。血沈は、炎症、感染、がん、リウマチ性疾患、血液および骨髄の疾患などにより増加する。「erythrocyte sedimentation rate（赤血球沈降速度）」とも呼ばれる。
