血液やその他の体液、組織でしばしばみられる物質。高レベルな腫瘍マーカーは特定の型のがんが体内に存在することを意味する。腫瘍マーカーの例としては、CA 125(卵巣がん)、CA 15-3(乳がん)、CEA (卵巣、肺、胸部、膵臓、消化管のがん)、PSA (前立腺がん)がある。「biomarker（バイオマーカー）」とも呼ばれる。
