がんの治療において研究中の物質。放射線療法に対する腫瘍細胞の感受性を高め、磁気共鳴撮像法（MRI）による腫瘍の画像を鮮明にし、がん細胞を死滅させる。金属ポルフィリン錯体という種類の薬物である。「motexafin gadolinium（モテクサフィン・ガドリニウム）」とも呼ばれる。
