ある一定量の骨の中に含まれるカルシウム量の測定単位。カルシウムは骨を強くし骨折を防ぐ。骨粗鬆症の診断や治療効果の確認、骨がどの程度で折れるかをみるために骨密度の測定値が用いられる。「bone mineral density （骨塩量）」、「BMD」、「bone mass（骨質量）」とも呼ばれる。
