皮膚の表面上または直下に発生する、まれな種類のがんで、通常は日光に露出している部位にみられる。高齢者と免疫系の働きが弱くなった人々の間で最も多くみられる。「neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin（皮膚の神経内分泌がん）」、「trabecular carcinoma」とも呼ばれる。
