感染やその他の疾患に対する免疫系の抵抗力が抑制された状態。骨髄移植やその他の臓器の移植では、ドナー組織への拒絶反応を予防するための準備段階として、薬物を用いて意図的に免疫抑制を誘発させることがある。またAIDSやリンパ腫などの特定の疾患や、抗がん剤投与の結果として生じる場合もある。
