腫瘍によって上大静脈（頭部、頸部、腕、胸部から心臓へと血液を送っている大きな静脈）が圧迫される病態。上大静脈が圧迫されると、血液が心臓に戻りにくくなって、咳や呼吸障害、顔面、頸部、上腕の腫脹などが生じてくる。
